First off, let me just say thanks to all my customers and those who keep up with this blog.
Worms etc is about more than just worms, hence the etc part, we are about using composting techniques to bring change and hope.
So you ask how?
The lowly worm in my opinion can do miraculous thing.
1. Improve water quality.
More people die every year from bad water than all acts of violence, war, vehicle accidents, malaria, HIV/AIDS Combined!!!
87% of the world population drink from unsafe water sources.
3.6 million die every year from bad water.
Much of this water is contaminated from human and animal manure. Worms quickly turn deadly fecal matter into safe compost.
Also synthetic fertilizers contaminate water sources making them unsuitable for drinking and also kill fish populations. Worm castings can be used instead.
2. Reduce garbage
Other forms of garbage that attract rodents and then plagues can be consumed by worms.
3. Feed the hungry
Worm casting increase the fertility of infertile soil.
4. Produce an honest living and break the cycle of poverty
By employing farmers to manage the worm farm and then providing farming opportunities out of the improved soils from the resulting castings.
So how to we get there?
1.
Learn how to manage worms and grow worms with garbage in real life third world situations. (in-progress)
2.
Network and establish connections with other humanitarian aid groups such as Cause Life. These groups already have infrastructure and access to developing countries and can provide needed advice and support.
3.
Find a test site. The test site needs to be a best case scenario to help the learning process along. After we understand more fully the problems that we will face we can move to harder situations.
4.
Expand.

i have several flow through and regular worm boxes. i have been researching article after article since for the first time since starting keeping worms in’75 it has taken a serious turn for me.
i have also been working with aquaponics also and a combination of aquaponics and vermiponics with wonderful success.
i was very impressed with your website and appreciate your attitude of helping those in need, because that is what got me serious about AP & VP. a small system utilizing both vermiponics and aquaponics to feed the average size family that can be given to or purchased at a very resonable cost to the folks (i am not in the business of selling) interested in your program and the direction it will take.
one comment that i must make is that tiger or banded worms are the EF’s and the solid worms with the light underbellies are the EA’s and should be seperated. a lot of sources sell a mix or EA’s both are excellent composters, but produce steril hybrids when interbred.
God bless your sharing
