About red wigglers

Red wiggler worms are small in size, but mighty in composting ability. When first introduced to a composting bin it will take them a little time to adjust to the new conditions, but soon they will be composting there weight or more in food each week. Furthermore they can reproduce real fast and will eventually multiple to meet the supply of food given to them. Like stated earlier these are smaller in size, but are still good for fishing as well.

About our worms

They are raised on pre-consumer food scraps that would have otherwise been sent to a landfill. As a result healthy worms are produced and valuable soil nutrients are saved from the landfill.

If you are looking for fishing worms these are great for small bait purposes. It is so convenient to not have to go to the tackle shop to pick up worms. Also if you do much fishing you will save lots of money by buying worms in bulk. These are a good size for trout, brim, crappie and shell crackers.

Shipping info

We separate the worms from all bedding and then weigh the worms. When you order a pound of worms you get an actual pound of worms. Then we add them to peat moss. The worms are tossed by hand in the peat moss to cover them so that they are "dirty" again. Before the worms were "dirtied" they clumped together without any space for air to circulate, but now they are individualized and cannot clump easily. This is the same effect as using dry flour to keep uncooked biscuits from sticking.

The pile of "dirtied worms are then placed in a cloth bag with a drawstring. Remember to keep the bag after you take out the worm. Later when you have castings, use the shipping bag to make worm tea.

The shipping boxes can also be cut up and used as bedding.

We do not charge a handling fee and we try to charge as close to actual shipping cost as possible. Shipping rates are calculated. An example shipping price for a pound of worms is 6.50 for nearby customers, but it would be more for those that are further away. We are located in South Carolina. Hope this gives you a round about figure. If you would like to know exactly register as a customer and proceed to checkout then it will give you actual shipping cost for your cart contents. Does shipping cause injury to worms?

Not usually, a hot mailbox or worms left on a hot doorstep can be a problem, but the only thing that gets to them is extreme temperatures. We guarantee live delivery of worms, but if you know the conditions are going to be extreme when they arrive, please be there to place them inside upon arrival. Although we insulate our packages, worms left in a hot mailbox for long may die or in any extreme heat. * In this regard please don't ask me to replace worms if this had happened to no fault of my own such as worms left in a hot mailbox. However, I will replace worms if you ask me and I do this under the honor system. (I trust my customers!) We are glad to have the order marked hold for pick-up. This will ensure safe delivery of worms even in poor weather conditions. We've had a package of worms left outside in below 0 temps for a whole day, to the customers surprise upon opening the worms were still healthy. Also we deliver to places such as Miami regularly in the summer without problems.

For many people it works out well to have the worms shipped to their place of work instead of their home if they are working during mail delivery hours.
