Adding additional bedding

I start out my bin with 3-4 inches of peat moss in the bottom topping that with another 3-4 inches of shreaded newspaper & cardboard. Ater a period of time the peat moss seems to disappear along with the newspaper & cardboard. So when adding more bedding do you just add more shreaded newspaprer & cardboard? Or do you also add more peat moss?

Hello, You can just add some shredded paper and cardboard. While the peat moss would make a good bedding also it is not necessary especially after the bin is going well. They all shrink in size quite a lot as the worms turn them into worm castings. Worm castings are very concentrated because of this.

Seems my brud likes to leave their deposits up in the shreaded newpaper and cardboard so the bottom shrinks even more as all the casting seem to be deposited in the shreaded paper. Guess I will leave it alone as I'm guess that is where they want it. ;)

Haha, yeah sounds good eventually most of it will be turned into compost anyway.
